How To Create A Website For Business
Just heard from a customer today who said, “Oh, we just revamped our website, so we should start getting more leads now.”
This is one of the biggest fallacies out there—"build it and they will come." The reality is, 250,000 websites are launched every single day. Google has to index all of them and decide which ones are the best. If you don’t follow Google’s guidelines and what they look for, you’re likely not going to make it to page one. And if you’re not on page one, you’re not getting leads for your business.
It’s not about how pretty the website is. In fact,
Google can’t even see pictures. While AI is starting to process images, Google still prioritises other elements. So, if you think a beautiful website is going to bring in loads of leads, you’re going to be waiting a long time.
The reason most business websites fail to work is that they’re 80% about the company and only 20% about the customer.
It needs to be the other way around—80% about the customer and 20% about the business.
Additionally, when designing a website, it should focus 90% on the information and only 10% on the design.
Most websites flip this, making it 90% about the design and just 10% about the information. These are two critical mistakes that many websites make.
If you haven’t come across me before, I’m James Roberts. I help business owners in New Zealand and the UK get more leads by doing things the right way—building lead-generating websites, not just pretty ones. There’s a big difference between the two.
If you’re a business owner who’s had a website for a while and thinks one or two leads a week is normal, I’m here to tell you it’s not.
You should be getting at least 3 leads a day if your website is done right.
